Hi all-
Just a quick update to let you know I’m still in the hospital. Day 11 (yes these go to eleven) and a new record which I’d rather not have. My lungs have re-expanded, and the chest tube was removed a few days ago. I’ve been running a fever on and off for a few days now, and that seems to be what’s keeping me from going home. Although I feel a lot better than when I first got here, I’m still not feeling great. There doesn’t seem to be a clear reason why I keep getting a fever, but hoping for some answers soon.
On the plus side, I’ll be starting radiation treatment today on a couple of the spots in my lungs that seem to be causing me the most trouble at the moment. This will be the same type of treatment as the spot in my skull, but this time for 10 days. Should see some good results in the short term from that.
Thanks again for all of your well wishes, thoughts and prayers. We really appreciate it. Hope my next update is from the comfort of our own home!
Hunter
We are waiving the flag for you! Hope that you can get home for a little good ole Southern 4th celebration. If not, I am sure you can feel the pride for our nation. We feel the pride and admiration and thanks for you. – Fred (and Ellen too!)
Hope you get to go home soon! Thanks for the update – I’m sure it must be hard to blog about, but it’s nice to know how you are doing.
Hope you get sprung from that place soon! I’m sure you must be miserable after 11 days. Hang in there and feel better!!!
Hunter and Jen, Hang in there! This is a long haul for you and I appreciate your willingness to share the experience. You don’t deserve this, but maybe we all deserve learning aboutit through you.

Hunter, thanks for the update. You should know the in’s and out’s of Vanderbilt Hospital after this. Pal, if you’re still there Thursday night, go to a east facing window and you should be able to see the downtown fireworks. The symphony and fireworks are schedule to start at 9:50 pm. Of course, I hope you are able to be home for the celebration. Yell if you need anything. You rock. 🙂
love and prayers Buddy
You will continue to be in our prayers. I’m so sorry you are still stuck in the hospital.
Keep hanging in there Hunter!
Sending you our thoughts, prayers and of course lots of hugs! Hope you are able to go home soon!
Hey, Hunter the Warrior! I know you are ready to be out of the sterilized environment ASAP and back into your comfortable home. Prayers for locating the source of infection so you can get out of “dodge”. Hang in there…
HUNTER YOU ARE MY HERO PRAYERS FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
Hunter,
Thank you for your posts. Sharing your journey has been a gift I feel blessed to have gotten. I’m only sorry we never really met.
I hope things improve soon.
Sending you love and well wishes.

Hunter and Jenn, I just found out today about all you have been going through. I read your entire blog today and just want you to know my family will be lifting you all up in prayer. You have amazing courage, strength and determination. Reading your journey is very humbling. I told all 4 of my kids I wanted them to read your blog because they could learn so much from you. You both are a beautiful example to us all about picking up your cross and making it as positive as you can. Praying for a miracle. Much love and prayers. The Huggins Family
Hunter,
I am so very sorry to hear the news and am praying very hard for you and your family. You are quite possibly the nicest, most genuine person around. One of the primary reasons I was able to successfully transition from a tiny little private school to a big school like Brookwood was because you (the senior) were happy to drive me (the freshman) around in your blue station wagon. I still remember the tradition of 24/7 Christmas music starting the day after Halloween. You were one of the best role models a guy could’ve had. Both of my parents still speak very, very highly of you because of your kindness and character.

A “Spinal Tap” reference AND you put radiation treatment on the “plus” side? You’re either crazy or simply a better man than I. Uh… I mean, better PERSON. Yeah, that’s it…
